The East Tamar Men’s Shed Inc. is a group of men from the Dilston, Windermere, Swan Bay, and Hillwood communities together with others from both sides of the river, who support each other through practical activities in woodwork and metalwork that promote health and well-being.
Our SHED is situated behind the Dilston Community Centre, 308 John Lees Drive, Dilston and the land is leased from Launceston City Council to occupy the buildings which we own, as a Men’s Shed.
We are members of the Australian Men’s Shed Association (A.M.S.A.) and the Tasmanian Men’s Shed Association (T.M.S.A.).
We have a large new woodwork area, a metal work area and a Social Room for quieter activities and crafts as well as catering facilities.
Our Official Opening occurred on Saturday November 28th, 2015.
You are welcome to attend and to inspect our facilities and our progress as an organisation.
If you would like to check us out, just turn up on one of our shed days or contact the President or Secretary to arrange a viewing. We will make you welcome, and you can decide if our SHED is the one for you to be involved with.
We welcome men of all ages. Those who need support for involvement are welcome to approach us through their support network. For membership we insist that the support worker is equally involved in the process.
Currently we have 34 members and growing. Our current facilities are limited for involvement of potentially 40 members. So, there may be room for you at present.
